Designer Spotlight: @rocknleatherwristwraps 💙

Jewelry-making is about more than just beads—it’s about finding your style, loving the creative process, and making pieces that truly spark joy. That’s exactly what @rocknleatherwristwraps has done, evolving from a simple hobby into a thriving business that specializes in creating unique wrap bracelets.

How did you get into Jewelry Making?

Although I’ve tinkered with jewelry making since I was a teen, the real ”bug” hit me about 17 years ago! I was at a craft fair and saw a Leather Wrap Bracelet for the first time! I was instantly obsessed and bought one! When I put it on, I realized it was way too big for me, so I studied it and decided to try to make my own. That was it! I started making them for my daughters and friends and before I knew it, I was designing my own styles and not duplicating any I’d made before! I decided to do some home parties, and then the hobby turned into a little business. When asked if I could make some matching stretch bracelets, the stacks started to form! Then I added some matching pendants and necklaces and before I knew it, Rock’n’Leather Wrist Wraps was born! I then decided to make custom sizing a priority! I began to specialize in making bracelets for women with tiny wrists, like mine, as well as, for women with larger wrists. Most of my custom orders are for these specialty types.

What kind of Jewelry pieces are your favorite to make?

My very favorite things to make are eclectic bracelet stacks with Bling! I have a tendency to be monochromatic, so making Sets with necklaces, pendants, earrings, or wrap bracelets that match has become “my thing.” I’ve even been given a nickname by a friend and Designer that has stuck with me throughout the years. She said because I always like to match, if I had been a “Spice Girl”, I’d be MatchySpice! Because of this, I have tried to challenge myself by mixing color palettes and types of beads.

What types of beads are your favorite to work with?

What started with 6mm round gemstone beads, evolved into using different types of beads for my wrap bracelets. I started using fire-polished beads and adding metals to the mix. That led to 8mm gemstones as focals for the wraps and eventually, I started to make the coordinating stretchy bracelets with 10mm beads to match! As I dove deeper into the meanings and properties of the gems, the curiosity to see what else I could find locally led me to bead shops and eventually to my first Bead Show! That’s when my eyes were filled with the most amazing beads and focals I could imagine! I started to experiment with so many different bead combinations and decided to make all my pieces one-of-a-kind so everyone could have their own unique design.

In 2020, when the Pandemic hit, I started searching online for beads and came across The Bead Chest. I was hooked!!!! So many earthy beads, rustic pieces, brass, rustic metals, and a variety of colors!! The options were endless!! These beads were the start of my BohoGlam Style!! It has become my favorite of all! Mixing these fabulous African beads with Czech glass, gemstones, wood and natural stones, mixed metals, Bling, and so many more elements became my favorite style to wear, too!

Where can our followers purchase designs from you?

Because there was no in-person shopping at the time, in 2020, I opened an Etsy Shop, RocknLeather Jewelry, and started an Instagram page to find online customers. Although my favorite way to sell is in person, social media helped me find the connection to the World! I sell mostly through direct sales on Facebook and Instagram Direct Messaging, and most of my Custom Orders are also through online connections and word-of-mouth. Three times a year, I host an Open House in my home for all my local friends and followers… In February, before Valentine’s Day, in May, for Mother's Day, and my biggest local event, my December Trunk Show, Sale and Luncheon. It’s my favorite one of all!

What is your biggest Jewelry Design Achievement?

That’s a tricky one… The fact that I’m self-taught and was able to create my own style of wrap bracelets and start this little business is an achievement on its own. What started out as a little hobby and grew to where I am now? That has become my Passion! I decided several years ago to Pay it Forward to those in need with my profits from sales of the Wrap Bracelets. Now, I donate every year to Breast Cancer and Multiple Sclerosis Research to Find a Cure, as well as St. Jude Children’s Hospital. This year I added donations to Alzheimer’s Research and The DOB Parkinson’s Foundation. My Passion has truly turned into a Labor of Love…

Who are some Jewelry Designers that inspire you?

The best thing to come out of my dip into social media has been meeting some of the most amazing Jewelry Designers around! I’ve even been blessed to meet some of them in person! In no particular order, @highvibebeads, @atelier.emme, @facets.etc, @meredithwaterstraat_art, @tiffanystrohham, @andriabieberdesigns, @tlynnjewelrydesign @coppercrownstudio, @eclecticbeadworks and two designers who have always been a friend and supporter of my work, @sweetandstonejewelry, and @boho.jo.design. There really are so many more fabulous jewelry designers who have supported me along the way… and I’m truly grateful for all of them!! We are here to inspire each other and share our love for this beautiful artistic expression, Jewelry Design!
