This exceptional strand of antique wood prayer beads was in the Amhara region of Northern Ethiopia. This type of bead is typically worn in the rural areas by the pious and devoted and is sometimes combined with an Ethiopian Coptic Cross. Newer varieties of such beads are becoming more commonplace but this authentic strand was actually worn and used by village people and shows sign of age.
