thanks folks!

There were a few newer beads mixed in with the old beads, deleted them; and I had to clean them first, sealed in a bottle with soap and water and shook them, worked great. but otherwise OK price was good and the folks I sent some necklaces to loved them. I liked the diversity of color.

Beautiful old beads

These are lovely beads and you can tell they are super old---they have dirt on them and everything--charming to some, but maybe not for everyone. I gave them a good scrub in my studio and am excited to incorporate them into my designs.

These red padre beads are found in Ethiopia, East Africa. Originally European Made and have been traded in African in the late 1800 early 1900's. The beads are approx. 8-9mm in diameter. Look carefully to appreciate: these are the original, old padres...not new or reproductions which are much easier to find. Strands may be strung on raffia or cotton cord. Each strand may have up to several padre beads that are other colors.
