Recycled glass beads are a type of indigenous craft from Ghana in West Africa. These beads have been nicely fashioned in recognizable Rasta colors using using an old method that has been applied for centuries. The glass itself is typically derived from a variety of recycled sources including old beverage and medicine bottles. The procedure for making the beads consists of a number of steps whereby powdered glass is poured into molds of clay and baked in a specialized oven. These beads are produced in large part by the Krobo tribe. Individual beads measure approximately 6-7mm diameter with a hole size of 2mm. You will receive a full strand measuring approximately 26". Each strand is unique and may vary slightly from photo.
