Product Details
These old trade beads likely derive their name from their distinctively elongated design. Beads such as these were crafted in the workshops of Venice likely during the late 19th and early 20th century for the African Trade. Produced in a number of different color combinations, matching strands of watermelon trade beads today are harder to find. Each strand measures approximately 31" in length with individual beads 18-20mm wide and 9mm in diameter. Most beads will predominantly display the black yellow red motif in some cases with some beads showing a reddish brown base (as pictured) instead. Individual strands are unique and may vary slightly from photo. Limited supply.
