These old natural stone beads are found in Nigeria. Populating a wide swath of West Africa, the people of the Fulani tribe have long put high value on the decorative arts. Although the exact provenance of these beads is unknown it's possible that that they may have originated in Southeast Asia and been subsequently traded to the African Continent. Strung on a durable cord and nicely finished with raffia, each bead is unique and will have it's own special pattern and texture. These beads are a harder to find smaller size measuring approximately 9-17mm. Some beads may show signs of age. Good for jewelry-making, home decor, or even may be worn as a necklace. Each strand is unique and may vary slightly from strand pictured.
