Details

• Bead sizes are measured ranges; handmade bone beads vary from bead to bead within them
• Holes run 1-2mm: the 1mm camel bone strand suits beading wire or fine cord, and the 1.5-2mm strands also take thicker cord or elastic
• The batik swirl beads are hand dyed, so each pattern is a little different

The two swirl strands come from Kenya, where bone beads are hand dyed with batik, a wax relief process, and strung on sisal. The button and saucer strands are handcrafted in Nepal from recycled bone, and the tan Nigerian disks are hand carved from camel bone. A ready-made natural palette of black, white, grey and brown for designers who want bold focal beads and quiet spacers that work together.
