Recycled glass beads are a type of indigenously produced African bead from Ghana West Africa. These beautiful red recycled beads are made using an old method that has been used for centuries. The glass itself is derived from a variety of recycled sources including old beverage and medicine bottles. The procedure for making the beads consists of a number of steps whereby powdered glass is poured into molds of clay and baked in a specialized oven. These beads are produced in large part by the Krobo tribe and through recycling glass are environmentally friendly. Each bead measures approximately 13-14 x13mm with a hole size of approximately 2mm. You will receive a full strand measuring approximately 30". Some strands may not have raffia and in that case the strand length may be shorter even though the bead count is similar. Shade of red may vary slightly from photo. Please let us know in advance if you have specific requirements.
