These authentic cobalt blue Maasai beads were worn by the people of northwest Kenya. It is customary for the women to wear necklaces made of beads such as these. In fact, the Kenyan tribes are known for their elaborate clothing and decorations which are used to indicate different characteristics including age and status. These older Maasai beads were derived from an elaborate necklace worn as part of the traditional costume. Look closely and you will see the age of these beads apparent in the smooth texture of the glass. Two strands pictured however each strand is sold individually.
