Snake beads are vintage African trade beads originally produced in former Czechoslovakia and exported to West Africa. The shape of these beads is inspired by interlocking snake vertebrae. While real snake vertebrae beads have been traded in Africa for centuries, glass alternatives such as these appeared only in the 20th century. The beads on this beautiful multicolor strand measure approximately 5 x 6mm, with hole size of 1mm. Each strand measures approximately 24". Each strand is unique but will comprise primarily of coral red and turquoise blue beads. The ratio of beads will vary for each strand and in some cases a small fraction of some other colors may also be included. Strand will be randomly selected.
