These unusual vintage Nigerian beads are old Czech production. Glass beads like these were made during the early 19th century in specialized bead making workshops of Europe. This unique reddish tone and unusual shape is meant to resemble coral and was especially coveted in West Africa where natural coral is valued in traditional tribal cultures.
