A beautiful strand of powder glass African beads, made by the people of Krobo Mountain in Ghana, West Africa. Many designs of Krobo beads are patterned to resemble old Venetian FANCY trade beads. Made from bottles and other glass items that are turned into powder, then poured into molds in order to create these elbow shaped beads. Decorations on the beads are made with a paste made of colored glass powder and water which is applied by hand using a thin wooden stalk. The beads are cooked a second time to fix the decor. Each bead is unique and will measure approximately 17-23 x 10mm. Strand may vary slightly from picture.
The long strand of uniquely painted beads are a delight. I appreciate the quick delivery. The stand is taken apart and each bead is used as a presentation piece for youth working on trails and environmental issues. The story of the beads and where they come from is of great interest to the youth recipients. I have worked with your company for over 10 years and always like the vibrancy and color of the beads.
