These genuine Islamic prayer beads are a traditional craft of Yemen. Prized for generations, beads such as these are intricately inlaid by a master craftsman to create the unique designs that characterize this art form. Look carefully and you will see that each silver dot has been individually applied and that no two beads are alike. Commonly referred to as Black Coral, these rare and highly sought-after beads are believed by some to have mystical properties. This unusual piece would be considered a special strand to be used for prayer or meditation. Yemen has historically been a primary source of Black Coral beads. Such beads have also been traded across the Red Sea and to other countries in East Africa. Antique such as these have some age and will show some signs of wear including imperfections. This unique strand of oval-shaped beads has been nicely finished with a traditional tassel and weighs approximately 44 grams. You will receive the exact strand pictured.
