Fun and colorful, these Krobo Glass Beads come from Ghana in West Africa. In this traditional art form, glass is crushed into a fine powder and then poured into clay molds. Once the glass is heated in an oven, it forms a what is commonly referred to as a powder glass beads. Individual beads are then painted by hand with a colorful geometric pattern. Many designs on Krobo beads are borrowed from Venetian trade beads.
Each strand of Krobo beads measures approximately 30" in length and includes approximately 30 beads measuring 19-24 x 10-11mm. The large 2-4mm hole is perfect for stringing on leather but this strand is long enough to be easily worn as a necklace.
I absolutely love these beads. I mix rhea with recycled Rondelle glass beads and round gemstones. I make beautiful bracelets. I will be purchasing many more strands.
I was delighted to get this beautiful strand, look at the colors, and be able to go back to the site to wishlist more of a certain style, or buy them right away. It's kind of the Krobos "overview" strand for me. Some recycled glass, and all kinds of different patterned beads. Buy with confidence. This shop prides itself on service and being a great information resource.
