Product Details
These authentic Djenne beads derive their name from the ancient city in Mali where they are found. Also known locally as Nila beads, they are said to be made of ancient excavated glass and are centuries old. The exact provenance of these beads is not known but it is believed that they may be possibly Roman. Djenne beads are a more rare variety of African bead and are found in several colors including white, black, yellow, green, and blue. Blue tone beads such as those included here are more highly coveted and harder to find. Each bead measures approximately 2-6mm wide and 6-10mm in diameter. Each strand is unique and may vary slightly from strand pictured. Current may NOT have the wrap at the top. Some strands may have more yellow or green and some beads smaller than described. Please check with us in advance if you special requirements. Bead count is approximate.
