If you are looking for something special, this is it. These exceptionally rare Moon Beads are very hard to find and are known for their unusual opalescence. Dutch and Venetian traders once used these beads to trade with the people of Ethiopia and East Africa. Today, Moon Beads are prized by history aficionados and coveted by collectors of old beads alike. Their exact age is unknown but it is believed that they may be as much as several hundred years old. Beads, as pictured, will show some signs of age. Each bead is unique and may vary in size, approximate shape, shade, etc. These beads are being sold individually. Some beads may show minor chips or scratches. Please notify us in advance if you have specific needs.

Very nice. I like the rough look of the beads.

They are very much like a moon stone.

I want to make a necklace with a shark tooth as the center. These will be perfect along with the Roman glass beads I ordered.

Beautiful bead

This bead is gorgeous. Wish I could have been able to get more than one, but they are not a cheap date, so I had to stick with one. It will have to go on a very special design, that's for sure!

Beautiful beads

The Antique Dutch Moon Beads from Ethiopia are beautiful...I had to clean them up a bit but they have a beautiful pale blue shimmer now and I can see why they are called moon beads with the glow they have. Will definitely be back for more! 😀
